I have been very busy recently compiling a list of all my favourite recipes, soon they will all be available to view on this website. If you have any suggestions or want to request a recipe then feel free to contact me using the contact page above.
Mauritius cuisine is very varied with influences from India, China, Europe, Africa and France. Since Mauritius was under the rule of the British many years ago there are still many traditions that Mauritian people follow, such as tea in the afternoon.
Mauritian food is never boring and very hard to get wrong, you can pretty much knock anything you have in your kitchen cupboard and get a very tasty Mauritian meal. I have lived in Mauritius for some time and was very sad to see that many elders do not cook the way they used to. Everything is now pre-mixed or pre-bought, long are the days when people make roti's at home, people prefer to pay someone to do it or go to their local roti seller to buy for their evening meal. Though I am in my mid-twenties I have a passion for cooking and find it very hard to eat certain foods purchased from outside, this is why I have decided to start my own website so that the younger generation do not forget how to cook the old fashion way.
Pre-made mixes are not always that good, I prefer to make everything from scratch and it doesn't cost as much as you may think. Cooking makes me happy, I enjoy it when my family tells me how full they are and satisfied after eating my home cooked Mauritian food.
Well anyway that was my short introduction to Mauritian food, I hope you check back or follow by email so that you can stay up to date with any new recipes.
Thank you for visiting.
